Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a very debilitating and stressful disorder, that can completely consume a person's life, not to mention those around them. However, if there is any positive side to OCD, it is that it can be treated very quickly. It can in fact be done in as little as 17 sessions. Generally, we treat people with OCD twice a week for regular outpatient care for 10 weeks. We can provide this treatment on an accelerated schedule for people who wish to take part in our intensive outpatient treatment program (IOP).
Consider Intensive Outpatient Therapy (IOP) for OCD if:
In times like this we can offer our IOP, which compacts the bulk of the OCD treatment into 2 weeks of intensive treatment. This intensive 2 weeks is then followed with online therapy on a tapering schedule.
We offer the IOP both in person and online, serving people from all over the United States, Canada, and worldwide. People often come from out of state for the therapy, which consists of roughly 3 treatment hours a day, followed by daily homework. Clients usually have a team of two therapists working with them each day, and group OCD therapy 1-2 times per week. Clients can also consult with our psychiatrist to have their medications re-evaluated, if desired.
We offer the Intensive Outpatient Therapy Program (IOP) for OCD-related conditions as well. This means we can treat health and illness anxiety, body dysmorphic disorder and muscle dysmorphia, and other issues too using the same techniques. We also treat depressive disorders, which commonly occur with OCD.
There are nearby lodging options for those coming from out of town.
Consider coming for an IOP to get away from the daily stress and cares of regular life while you recover in scenic Tolland, Connecticut. Tolland is beautiful and rustic all year round. It is estimated that between 2 and 3 million people are suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder in the United States. About one in fifty people have had symptoms of OCD at some point in their lives, with 1% suffering within the last year. OCD afflicts people of all races, faiths, nationalities, and ethnic groups. OCD causes great suffering to patients and their families, as up to 10 hours per day may be devoted to performing rituals. OCD has been classified by the World Health Organization as one the top ten causes of disability worldwide.
Although any medical doctor can take your blood pressure, only a few can do heart surgery. Likewise, any therapist can help someone who is feeling a bit blue, but only a few can effectively treat OCD.
OCD treatment is a type of therapy that requires a specialized protocol called Exposure and Ritual Prevention (ERP or EX/RP).
